The latest Tobacco Use Survey (2009) shows the current smoking rate for New Zealanders aged between 15 and 64 years is 21.8%, down 2.1% from the 2008 rate of 23.9%.

It’ll cost state employees to smoke (The Tennessean)

Current and former state employees have until the end of this year to quit smoking, or pay the consequences.

Following Tuesday’s city election, the Emporia city ordinance banning smoking in public places will remain in effect. The current count is 2,333 votes in favor of the smoking ban and 2,325 against it, for a difference of 11 votes.

We all know, especially smokers, that smoking is an insidious habit. Most individuals that smoke would give their left lung to quit (pun intended). The fact is there are smokers on campus and the complaint that smokers congregate around doorways, causing smoke to enter the buildings and/or bother nonsmokers while passing through, is the complaint I wish to discuss.
