The Honourable Rona Ambrose, federal Minister of Labour, announced funding for a project administered through The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT that is designed to reduce tobacco use among employees who work in industries with higher than average smoking rates. Smoking cessation help offered (Portales News-Tribune)

Smoking cessation has a 90 percent success rate of people quitting smoking or reducing the amount they smoke. The free program is sponsored by Roosevelt General Hospital, and the Amercian Lung Association, and gives clients a chance to change their lives by being smoke-free.

Victoria woman quits smoking, wins B.C. contest (CHEK News)

Victoria's Christie Kane, 37, butted out after 21 years of smoking to win the B.C. Lung Association's Quit Now and WIN contest. Kane is one of five regional winners, one for each health authority in the province, to take home $2500 in gift certificates.
